Dear Backers,

Thank you for sending in feedback and suggestions. We really appreciate it and we are constantly working on improving our services. We have come up with a tutorial on the b-box and have posted it on our website. You can check it out here:

https://beeing.it/en/b-box-tutorial/

Feel free to email us if you have any questions.

For the people who still have not recieved your hives - unfortunately there have been some delays with shipping to the US due to COVID restrictions. Since a lot of medical supplies are being sent to the US, they are prioritized. We are still shipping out hives, but there is a quota of 3 hives per day.

Hopefully everyone is staying safe and doing well. Sorry to hear that the US's cases are growing. Italy stands with you!

On a brighter note - here are some photos of bees inside our backers' hives:

Thank you for sharing your photos with us!

All the best,
Beeing Team

Hi Everyone!

Hope everyone is doing well and is staying safe. Monthly updates are here.

As most of you already know, production is all ready and we are shipping out your b-boxes, but unpainted, due to the virus restrictions. Thank you for your patience and understanding! A lot of you have received your b-boxes already and have the bees inside.

To those that have not received your b-box yet; please check your emails - we have sent some communications regarding your b-box order. If you haven’t received any emails - send us one please so we know when to ship your order out. For now we can only ship the unpainted ones out, so if you want it shipped to you, let us know. You also have the option of waiting a little longer until we can ship out the painted ones.

We are happy to inform you that we are working on some videos and mini tutorials and they will be out very soon. In the meantime, feel free to shoot us an email and we will do our best to answer all the questions and doubts you may have.

Here are some photos of some of the b-boxes you painted!

Best,
Beeing Team

Dear Backers,

Spring is here, the bees are out working. Despite these difficult times, we are working as well!  Thank you everyone who sent us kind words. We are all healthy and mostly working from home.

Thanks to everyone who shared photos of assembled b-boxes, we are very happy to see our b-boxes in Australia, Japan, India, Canada, Sweden, UK… we’re glad to receive your photos/updates! :)

FOR US BACKERS:

We have some updates!

As many of you already know, we finally received all the parts needed for the US hives! As happy as we are about this, there is still one more step that we cannot complete: the painting. Before we send you out the pieces, we put a layer of a water based impregnating agent on each of the parts. Since we value the health of our workers, we choose to respect the lockdown laws due to the virus and cannot ask workers to come to our warehouse and paint these parts, we are only able to send the hives without the paint.

We are trying our best to ameliorate the situation with the virus. So if you want to receive your b-box asap, we can send it to you unpainted and you can paint it yourself. It is a fairly easy job, and you can paint it once you have assembled the hive, to protect it from rain/snow etc. We will send you a mini tutorial on how to do it.

You also have the option of waiting until the hive is painted. As of now, unfortunately we cannot tell you when that will be. It all depends on the virus and how long the lockdown will last.

Send us an email regarding your decision on this please. Tell us if you have bees ordered, we will send out your hive asap to give them a home.

For those who already received their b-boxes; we are working on some tutorials about the b-box maintenance. It will be out soon, but in the meantime feel free to email us if you have any questions.

And everyone; remember not to let your spirit down, we will all get through this!
We remind everyone to follow the directions of the World Health Organization, and do our best to be positive! We are sending you a lot of love and support.

PS: We sometimes send specific updates via email and some people have been saying that it goes to spam. Be sure to check your spam box from time to time as well!

All the best,

Beeing Team ?❤

Dear Backers,

we thank all of you again for believing in us and staying with us despite the delays in shipping. It means a lot!

For those of you who have received the b-box already, we made a little tutorial with a few extra instructions for you on what to do next.

Bees

If you haven’t ordered your bees, you can do so from a nearby beekeeping association. Usually, all you have to do is search for one on google. If you’re having trouble finding one, feel free to email us and we will try our best to help you.

We suggest that when you ask for a swarm from beekeepers, ask them to provide you with a frame as well. Otherwise if you put them inside the b-box only with the frames and wax foundations, the bees will have a harder time adjusting and making their nests.

Beekeeping Course

As to beekeeping itself, a beekeeping course is a must. Beekeeping comes with responsibility, and our b-box is not an exception. Alternatively, you can rely on a professional beekeeper to help you with correct management.

Here we have some specific instructions for our b-box:

Impregnating Agent

First of all, once you have assembled your b-box, we suggest putting another layer of an impregnating agent on the external parts of the hive, only if the hive is going to be exposed to rain etc. Although all parts have been coated already, it’s best to give it another layer to ensure durability. We suggest putting a water based non toxic impregnating agent. Any brand will do.

Wax Foundation

The bees could build their comb on either side of the honeycomb mold that we have provided, but we want them to build it in between the mold. Therefore you would need to get a wax foundation to put in between it. You could get it in your nearest beekeeping store or online. In order to embed it, you will have to cut it to fit the size of the mold and place it between the two pieces.

Chimney Setup for Strong Winds

For places that have stronger winds, we advise you to attach the two chimney pieces together for extra strength, and here’s how you do it.

These are the two chimney pieces that you will have to connect together.

  1. For this you would need a couple of metal mending plates.
  2. Take the upper (longer) part of the chimney and place the mending plate on the inside of the hive. Attach the metal mending plate with a screw. The screw should be around 1 cm in length.
  3. Take the bottom part of the hive.
  4. Place it next to the upper part and align it well with the upper part.
  5. Attach the mending plate to the bottom part of the hive through the inside.
  6. The finished version should look like this.

Good luck everyone! Don't hesitate to email us if you have any questions.

All the best,

Beeing team
